Chilly challenge for Hospice fundraisers

The dramatic, rugged, snow capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains will provide a group of Eden Valley Hospice fundraisers with a spectacular backdrop for the challenge of a lifetime.

Morocco’s warm and welcoming hospitality, aromatic cooking and enchanting music will capture the imagination of a group of local people as they visit the North African country for a fundraising challenge they will never forget. The Hospice is encouraging the local community to challenge themselves and take on the spectacular challenge in February 2015.

For eight days the group of Eden Valley Hospice fundraisers will assent the snow capped Atlas Mountains as they attempt to reach the 4,167m peak of Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain. Beginning in the picturesque, tree covered slopes of the Imlil Valley the fundraisers will follow the tried and tested route to the beautiful and spectacular summits of Ouanoukrim and Mount Toubkal.

Emma Marshall, Hospice Fundraiser, said “The Mount Toubkal trek in winter is the perfect way for you to challenge yourself and do something amazing for Eden Valley Hospice. The stunning and spectacular scenery of the Atlas Mountains will provide the perfect backdrop for the challenge and the breath taking views at the summit of Mount Toubkal will make the assent worthwhile.”

Along with the spectacular scenery of the Atlas Mountains, the Hospice fundraisers will have the opportunity to visit the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and experience the rich blend of Arab and Berber culture.

Are you ready to assent the stunning, snow capped peaks of Mount Toubkal and support local people and their families with life limiting illnesses? Contact the Eden Valley Hospice Fundraising Team on 01228 817613 or visitwww.evhospice.org.uk/morocco

Hospice fundraisers follow in the footsteps of Indiana Jones

The elaborate, hand carved, sandstone temples of Petra have provided a stunning backdrop for a variety of iconic films and in October 2014 a group of Hospice fundraisers will be following in the footsteps of a host of Hollywood legends.

The Rose City of Petra in Jordan, which has featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Arabian Nights and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, will be the final destination for Eden Valley Hospice’s first overseas fundraising challenge.

For six days a group of Hospice fundraisers will trek across the picturesque and stunning desert in Jordan as they follower hunters trails from the Dana Nature Reserve to one of the ‘New 7 Wonders’ of the world, Petra. Famously, the spectacular, sandstone city was included in the final scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as Indiana, played by Harrison Ford, searched for the Holy Grail.

Eden Valley Hospice is encouraging the local community to release their inner Indiana Jones and go on the adventure of a life time across the beautiful Jordanian countryside and support the Hospice’s dedicated team of nurses and specialist doctors.

Emma Marshall, Hospice Fundraiser, said “The Dana to Petra trek is a fantastic way for you to release you inner adventurer and support Eden Valley Hospice. The beautiful trek will see the group of fundraisers sleeping under the stars in Bedouin style camps and visiting the brilliant SOS Children’s Villages project on the final day of adventure.”
